Gauthier has returned to Olson Hagel Waters & Fishburn, LLP as an associate. Gauthier worked as a law clerk at Olson Hagel from 1994 to 1996 while he was in law school. Olson Hagel, one of the state's leading political law firms, also specializes in social security matters. Gauthier will work in the political/government unit and litigation department. "We couldn't be happier that Tom has returned to Sacramento and Olson Hagel," said Lance Olson, the firm's managing partner. "His legal skills and work ethic will serve our firm and our clients well." Gauthier received his law degree from the University of California at Davis and served as staff editor on the U.C. Davis Law Review. He received his Bachelors degree in Political Science and Administrative Studies from the University of California at Riverside, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. After graduating from law school, Gauthier worked for a firm in Fresno specializing in education law and representing government entities. There he gained valuable state and federal litigation experience and counseled public and private clients on education law, the Brown Act and conflicts of interest. Founded in 1977 by Lance Olson, Olson Hagel serves as General Counsel to the state Democratic Party and advises numerous candidates, elected officials, political action committees, ballot measure committees, lobbyists and contributors on laws that regulate political conduct. The firm's Social Security Unit represents clients from the initial application through litigation in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
